Improvement of gold bioleaching extraction from waste

Gold leaching using bio-cyanide (Bio-CN) solution has been extensively studied as an economic, simple, and effective alternative method to the traditional ores resulted in 85% gold recovery after 336 h. Since the leaching rate was slow, they concluded that glycine is suitable for only heap and in- situ leaching of oxide ores. The Leaching and recovery of gold from ore in cyanide-free glycine

Cyanide-free gold leaching in exceptionally mild chloride

Cyanide-free mild chloride leaching was investigated. •. Gold could be recovered even at <520 mV vs. Ag/AgCl in carbon-in-chloride-leach mode. •. Copper was a stronger oxidant than iron in gold leaching. •. Gold was oxidized by in-situ dissolving impurities. •. Seawater contains enough chlorides to dissolve gold.Section snippets Silicate ore preparation. The silicate ore sample was collected from a gold mining area in Thailand. It was pulverized with a granite mortar and pestle, sieved through a standard 200 mesh screen (particle size ≤ 75 µm), and stored in a desiccator after drying in an oven overnight at 60 °C. Gold and Silver Leaching. For Gold and Silver, the most common leachants used are Na or K cyanides in the presence of oxygen, Thiourea (NH 2. CS.NH 2), also in the presence of oxygen, or Ammonium polysulphide (NH 4) 2 Sx, especially for Gold. Optimum physical conditions for cyanidation are: Maximum temperature of 85 o C, cyanide acces~ble gold being left in the residue, even after 24 hours. However, final gold extraction is already achieved after 6 hours when the PA-Lprocess is applied. 3 2 1 0 “L.—. —@— —. —o— . with H202 I [ 1 I I I 1 I 3 6 9 12 15 18 21 2.t I retention time (h) I Fig. 2 — Residual gold concentration in the Fairview ore as aTechnical Note Development in gold leaching using hydrogen

Under the optimal leaching conditions of lixiviant concentration 0.3 wt%, initial pH 10–11, liquid to solid ratio 2.5:1, and agitation speed 600 rpm, the synthetic lixiviant could achieve a gold extraction of 87.0% in 8 h and 97.5% in 24 h on the gold concentrate, reducing the leaching time by 12 h compared with cyanidation (97.1% gold extraction in pre-treating the carbonaceous ores by surfactant, RIL leaching seems to yield 10-20% more gold recovery than CIL leaching depending on the ores. The results also indicate that the RIL gold recovery increases consistently by 25-30% for all three ores, when treating the carbonaceous ores by Ethomeen T/12 at the dosage of 1 kg/t prior to RIL leaching.SURFACTANT BLINDING AGENTS FOR REFRACTORY CARBONACEOUS GOLD
